Last week, Protunity launched. I made a video presentation for them that was put up on a hundred foot screen at the Convention Centre. I had a 48 hour turnaround time on this once the final scrip reached me. Love the pressure!
This is literally the first few minutes I have had in almost 3 weeks to update the blog. I guess that means wedding season has officially started!
Chastity and Rodel are one of the lovely couples whose wedding I will be shooting later this year. They also happened to have booked the best photographer in town too! (Bond, my family, of course!) Last week Bond was shooting their connection session and when I heard what they were doing… I jumped at the chance to film it!
Mud. Not just a puddle… an entire mud mountain. And not just a little mud-fight either… we are talking about wallowing in the stuff!
Chastity and Rodel, you guys were phenomenal!
Check it out…
I love this couple. I love their families and I loved being a part of the wedding. In fact I enjoyed working with Natasha and Raj so much that I decided to do a free “next day edit” for them to play at the reception. (I guess I can sleep when I am old!) Thank you for choosing me to be a part of your celebration. I can’t wait to get started editing the movie!
I also had the pleasure of working with Joel Ross on this wedding too. I must say thank you to Joel for graciously answering my newbie questions about this type of wedding and for pointing out some awesome shots during the course of the 4 days. It was a real pleasure working with you Joel and I hope we can work together again soon. I also wanted to thank Michelle Zerr and Lise Mc Millan for assisting with the shoot. I really don’t know what I would have done without you guys. I used to shoot solo, but now that I have seen how much more opportunity for creativity there is with a couple of people on the job, I don’t think I can ever go back!
So here is the movie trailer we played at the reception. Come back in a little while to see the finished highlights!
I had the privilege and the pleasure of shooting the recent performances by Momentum Aerial & Acrobatic Performance Troupe of their Masquerade show. Momentum is a part of Monica’s Danz Gym, who I have been working with for several months now.
The show was OUTSTANDING. I was blown away with the choreography and the artistry whith which the students performed it. It felt like we were at a Cirque du Soleil performance!
We shot the dress rehearsal and both performances with several cameras. I have 9 different camera angles to work with in editing the final show. I can’t wait to get started. I put together this little teaser to give the parents a taste of things to come. Enjoy…
Bond and Leah went to Vegas a few months ago. They did a photo-shoot in the desert while they were there. Leah got a couple of minutes of video of the day, so I thought I would put them together in a (very) short promo. The camera was a cheap camcorder and it was filmed without any stabilization but I love the scenery. If you want to really see what the shoot was about you should visit BLF Studios blog to check out the amazing photos.
Here’s that clip…
I LOVED every minute of shooting Chris and Michelle’s wedding. Their Engagement Shoot was a blast! Today their video was placed on Bride.ca, a wonderful website full or resources for Canadian brides.
Ten years ago, a formal engagement photo session (what everyone calls e-sessions these days) was still a novelty. Nowadays, it is hard to imagine a wedding not preceded by a gorgeous engagement portrait, displayed at the reception or even a complete photo shoot – an album in its own right.. We ‘ve run some fairly amazing engagement photo features in the past.
Well, why not step it up a notch? Engagement videos allow you to capture your love on film, for ever.. in a relaxed atmosphere, without the stress of the wedding day schedule. Too, you can take your time and select locations and themes and clothing that perfectly expresses you.
You can visit the article and watch the video here. They will also be doing a feature on my Save the Date videos sometime soon. I will keep you posted.
You will remember from an earlier post that the Madeline’s Wedding Show took place this weekend at the Four Points by Sheraton hotel on Pembina.
I had the good fortune to be shown around the newly renovated hotel by Phil Bradley, the Food and Beverage Manager of the hotel. It’s a great place. There is a fully enclosed salt-water swimming pool on the second floor, a 24 hour gym, beautiful presidential suites replete with monster flat-screen TVs and jacuzzi, restaurant, bar, gaming lounge and an elegant mid-sized ballroom where the wedding show was held. I took some time out to interview Phil and get some footage of the facilities this great hotel offers. Check out the video…
The show itself was an intimate affair with lots of time to chat to the brides (and grooms and moms) who stopped by. The example table settings, the flowers and the cakes were gorgeous. There was also a belly dancing show later in the afternoon. The grand prize draw happened at the end of the show where one lucky couple won a prize package worth thousands of dollars. They will be getting a “Save the Date” shoot from us which should be spectacular! For those of you who missed it… make sure to catch it next year!
Here is a short highlights video of some of the day’s proceedings…
Some time ago I approached Monica from Monica’s Danz Gym about shooting some video of the dancers at her school. This Friday and Saturday I got the chance to see them practicing for the upcoming shows and to shoot a promo video for the school.
The kids there are wonderful. There is such a supportive atmosphere there and an eagerness to learn and help eachother. The students make some of the complex things they are practicing look easy and they do it all with a smile! The teachers are great too. You can see how passionate they are about their art. It really shows through in how the kids admire them so much. It’s a fantastic school. If I am ever blessed with kids, boys or girls, I will certainly be sending them to Monica’s.
What makes the school so outstanding is the sheer variety of classes on offer. Jazz/tap/hip-hop/ballet… and everything in between is available there. The highlight for me has to be the aerial work though. Suspended from the cathedral high ceilings are trapeezes, straps, hoops and fabrics. Its a Cirque du Soleil style training arena where the students twist and fly through the air as if the laws of gravity somehow don’t apply here! Fun, fun, fun!
Here is the promo video and look out for the shows coming up in Feb. April and May. They are garuanteed to be worth watching.
