Leilani & Joel

This wedding was full of character and characters… always a pleasure to be a part of! You may remember this couple and their entourage from a little music video we put together for them just after the wedding.

Favourite speech of the year so far goes to Leilani’s brother talking about his private investigation into whether or not she and Joel were dating. Super funny!

A huge thanks to Events by Emma for the amazing touches she and her team put together for the reception at the convention centre. And a shoutout to Lise and Kris who shot the footage on this one.

Thank You!

It’s been a few weeks of solid editing here in the studio. Couple more months still to go before I can wrap up all the amazing edits for 2012. I had a few moments today to look back over the great weddings we had the pleasure of being a part of this year. This is just a quick note to say thank you. Thank you to all you wonderful couples who invited us into your lives for that brief moment. It has been, and continues to be, an honour to be there to capture those memories.

This little video sums up how I feel about what we get to to for a living…

Hope & Steve – Cinematic Feature

As so often happens with wedding cinematography, we were a last minute option for Hope and Steve. I am so glad they decided we were worth the investment!

There are so many fantastic memories about this day but the one that really stands out for me is the father-daughter dance. There is a beautiful close-up of him whispering in her ear: “Don’t be sad, you will always be my little girl”. Beautiful. The whole day was full of laughter and beautiful little moments like that.

Hope and Steve, you guys are off to a great start. You are perfect for each other and we wish you a long life filled with love!

Here are some still captures from the amazing footage…

Raquelle and Chris

Best speeches of the year so far!

To be completely honest, I am a bit jaded by wedding speeches after hearing hundreds of them every year. It’s just one of those things you get used to when you shoot wedding movies for a living. Every so often there is a group of people that nail it… Chris and Raquelle’s speeches did just that. Perhaps it also helps when you have a hand full of best men instead of one?! I found myself smiling and laughing along with everybody as I was editing this wedding. Fun times.

Great wedding. Great couple.

Analee & Ian – Cinematic Wedding Highlights

I met Analee and Ian in the depths of winter. We shot a beautiful Save the Date video early in the year and I was excited to see what they had in store for the big day.

Spectacular. Just spectacular!

The highlight for me while editing this shoot was definitely the lanterns. I spent 5 years in Taiwan and every year there was a lantern festival where the sky what lit up by thousands of these beautiful paper lanterns. Each one carrying the hopes and prayers of the family that sent it up to the heavens. For a couple like Analee and Ian who have known each other for most of their lives my wish is that they learn to fall more in love with each other with every passing year.

Here are a couple of stills I grabbed from the video…

Marie Cecile & Matthew – A Multicultural Celebration

It’s not often you see a wedding with so many diverse cultural elements woven into the day. Marie Cecile and Matthew actually had 3 costume changes and 2 dance performances at the reception, not to mention the traditional Filipino performers that entertained the crown throughout the evening. Never a dull moment!

The couple had some bad luck in the run up to the big day, culminating in Marie Cecile’s parents not being given their travel documents in time to be there for the wedding. I will be putting more of the longer version online later for those who couldn’t be there. They got through the hurdles of the day so now they are sure to have a lifetime of smooth sailing from here on in!

Thanks as always to Manny Sousa for being so easy to work with on the day. Also a shout out to The Hilton for the great meal.

Mikyla & Nicolas – Cinematic Feature

There is nothing quite like a sunny Manitoba Summer day to make you feel the love. Add a country wedding between a couple so clearly head over heals for each other to the mix and it’s a recipe for ear to ear smiles all round!

Kris and I made the early morning drive out to Winkler to shoot Mikyla and Nicolas’s wedding early this Summer. With the birds chirping and the Cicadas buzzing all around it was easy to get into the breezy Summer vibe that the couple created for this celebration. Any time the groom is wearing flip-flops to a wedding is guaranteed to be a good time! The reception took place in an old bard that was decorated spectacularly well. It was like something right off the pages of a bridal magazine under the heading “Elegant Country Wedding”.

We always strive to make our movies reflect the personalities of the couple. Watch till the end to see a funny little incident we recreated just for these two crazy kids!

Here are a couple of still frames from the video to get you started…

Melissa & Jamie – Wedding Video Highlights

Some couples explode with love for each other the first time they lock eyes. Some couples start out as friends. There is no right or wrong way.

There is only your way.

Jamie and Melissa started out as friends. Judging by the way they look at each other and the way they respect each other and the way it’s so obvious they get a kick out of making each other happy… they have found their path together. We were just along for the ride.

It was a scorching hot summer day and the Leo Mol  looked just beautiful. As did the bride!
We also shot an amazing video as a DVD invitation for the couple some time ago. It’s a much more memorable way to invite your guests to Save the Date of the wedding. Here is the invitation and the Highlights are after that…

Highlights – Wendy and Reagan – Winnipeg wedding Videographer

Wendy and Reagan got hitched in July. It was a beautiful day and a beautiful celebration. The B Crew covered the earlier parts of the day and then I joined them at the reception after I finished my shoot. What can I say? I am a workoholic!
When you listen to Wendy’s sister talk about the couple and when you see them together on the dance floor, it’s just so obvious that they are meant for eachother. It’s seeing that sort of emotion that drew me to this work in the first place and it is what I love most about what I get to do for a living.
Enjoy the video!

Kulvir & Bal – Winnipeg + Vancouver Wedding Video

To say this family is photogenic is the understatement of the century. Joel Ross and I just had the most wonderful time shooting Kulvir and Bal’s wedding in Winnipeg and Vancouver.

This is the craziest time of the year for any wedding cinematography professional. Mid-Summer has just passed and now the real work starts… putting together all those amazing clips into a movie that captures the emotions of the celebration and works as a piece of art. No small task, but when you have the honour of shooting a couple who are so easygoing and whose families make you feel welcome and are happy to try out all your crazy ideas for shots… this is the kind on Same day Edit you end up with…

Kim and Phil – Video Highlights – Winnipeg Wedding Videographer

Here are a couple of pics from behind the scenes of the photo-shoot for Kim and Phil’s wedding. If the wind isn’t blowing in the right direction… you just have to improvise!

I met with Kim and Phil for the first time so long ago that it feels like we have been friends forever! Having shot their social, e-shoot and wedding I feel really invested in them as a couple. When you hear them speak about each other when they are in separate rooms, you can just see the love and respect they have for each other. When they are together you can feel it. I am super happy that we could be even a small part of their celebration…

Kim and Phil – A Spring Wedding #fb

kim and phil-603

So we are doing a lot more fusion weddings here this year. My first love is definitely cinematography, but there is also something deeply satisfying in capturing a single perfect moment in time on an otherwise busy and frenetic day. For Kim and Phil’s wedding this weekend I had the assistance of the always wonderful Michelle Zerr with the photography side of the wedding.

The weather promised to be awful all week. Actually,  when I woke up they were calling for tornado warnings all over Southern Manitoba! Rule #1 of capturing a wedding: Don’t let the couple get sucked into a tornado the morning they are supposed to say their vows! Our plan B was the Manitoba Hydro building. As soon as we had the first look, the sun came out and we made the call to head to Assiniboine Park for an hour or two before the ceremony. I am soo happy the weather played along. We got some gems…

The ceremony was at the spectacular St. Ignatius church. The only way to get a photo of the whole family… fish eye….

The reception was at the Marlborough. I love when we get to shoot up on the roof there…

So these were a few of my favourite shots from the day. The video will take a few weeks to get edited, so look out for that!

Thanks to Tracy from Moments Event Planning for all the hard work and the spectacular reception. I love working with professional, friendly and easygoing people!!!!
