Regan & Lisa – Teaser

There was so much amazing footage to choose from for this Fall wedding that I really struggled to limit myself to a minute or two for this teaser edit. Regan and Lisa were amazing and they really looked like they were having almost as much fun as we were shooting this! Fall is definitely my favourite time of year for weddings in Winnipeg.

Here are a few stills from the video for you to check out too…

Jennifer & Dennett – Winnipeg Wedding Music Video

We had a blast shooting this music video for Jennifer and Dennett’s wedding earlier this summer. It’s always a challenge when you have a bridal party the size of a football team (or two!), but these guys rocked! Thanks again to BLF Studios for being so great to work with on the day.

The main cinematic feature is still a couple of months away. If this little teaser is anything to go by it’s going to be a lot of fun to edit too! Here are a couple of stills I pulled from the video…

Belle & Ben – Same Day Edit

In this world there are some people who are just so easy to love. Belle and Ben are both like that. Just seeing how calm and easygoing they are with each other and how everything about them is positive and about doing good…. I fell in love with them both when we first met and spending the day with them last weekend just reconfirmed how awesome they are.

Here is a little sneak peek SDE that I put together just before dinner at the reception. Best moment for me: Belle’s huge smile when they had just exchanged vows!

As always it was truly a pleasure working with Jerry Vergel who did the photography. The reception was spectacular at the Viscount, which has sort of been a home away from home for me this summer!

Heidi & Chen – Same day Edit

We went out for a romantic picnic at The Forks in the early summer. It was such a perfect day. Sushi and sunshine! Originally the wedding ceremony was going to be at the Forks too so the plan was to weave in some shots of the couple cross fading between the picnic session and the wedding. Winnipeg’s weather doesn’t always play nicely, so they decided on their (equally gorgeous in its own way) alternate venue which made that plan impossible. We did get enough of a break in the weather to shoot outside in the amazing Fall foliage. One of the most beautiful locations we have shot in this year, actually!

The reception was at Kum Koon garden in Chinatown. What a beautiful spread. The traditional 8 course meal reminded me so much of the big, end of year celebrations we used to have when I lived in Taiwan.

Thanks again to Melissa Johnstone from sugar and soul photography who was so great to work with all day long. Look out for her in action in the SDE video too!

Sarah & BJ – Wedding Video Teaser

Lise directed this shoot with our alternate crew…and what a stunning job she did! Loads of eye-candy to choose from when putting together this little teaser! I can`t wait to get to the main feature edit.

Jill & Mike – A Clear Lake Wedding Music Video

Janelle and I drove out to Clear lake to shoot Jill and Mike’s wedding movie. We always knew it was going to be a good one, but there is no way we could have known how much fun it would be to shoot the music video part of the day!

From the lake front to the beautiful open fields to the forested areas… there were just so many amazing little places to shoot. A couple of months before the wedding Jill sent out a little instructional video on the dance moves she wanted the wedding party to practice for the grand entrance. I suggested we shoot the rehearsals too so we could cut them into the entrance and then we decided the best thing would be to just make a little music video of the whole thing. So here it is….

Melissa & Jamie – Wedding Video Highlights

Some couples explode with love for each other the first time they lock eyes. Some couples start out as friends. There is no right or wrong way.

There is only your way.

Jamie and Melissa started out as friends. Judging by the way they look at each other and the way they respect each other and the way it’s so obvious they get a kick out of making each other happy… they have found their path together. We were just along for the ride.

It was a scorching hot summer day and the Leo Mol  looked just beautiful. As did the bride!
We also shot an amazing video as a DVD invitation for the couple some time ago. It’s a much more memorable way to invite your guests to Save the Date of the wedding. Here is the invitation and the Highlights are after that…

Reena & Maneesh

So the silly season has finally started for us. We have 51 engagements in the next 18 weeks. We are 100% geared up and ready to rock!

It’s always great to kick off with an East Indian wedding. The colours and the traditions make for the most beautiful cinematography. Reena and Maneesh had a breathtaking ceremony and reception at the Convention Centre this weekend. Events by Emma were the coordinators for this wedding so as you would expect, everything ran perfectly all week. Manny Sousa took care of the photography which turned out just beautifully. Elite Lighting did the sound and lighting and Sohan did a fantastic job as always. It is truly a pleasure to work with these elite vendors on any wedding.

I put together a quick edit overnight between the ceremony day and the reception. I am just busy getting all the footage from the reception loaded on the hard drives and ready for editing so I thought I would share the little NDE (Next Day Edit)…

I had so much fun shooting this little movie trailer on Saturday that I just had to share it today.

Sheila, the bride in question couldn’t be a sweeter person or more opposite to an actual Bridezilla (not that I have EVER actually had to work with one!!!). That’s why it was so much fun for her to act out the craziness for the trailer. Mitch and the kids were fantastic too.

Enough said…..

Natasha and Raj – Trailer

I love this couple. I love their families and I loved being a part of the wedding. In fact I enjoyed working with Natasha and Raj so much that I decided to do a free “next day edit” for them to play at the reception. (I guess I can sleep when I am old!) Thank you for choosing me to be a part of your celebration. I can’t wait to get started editing the movie!

I also had the pleasure of working with Joel Ross on this wedding too. I must say thank you to Joel for graciously answering my newbie questions about this type of wedding and for pointing out some awesome shots during the course of the 4 days. It was a real pleasure working with you Joel and I hope we can work together again soon. I also wanted to thank Michelle Zerr and Lise Mc Millan for assisting with the shoot. I really don’t know what I would have done without you guys. I used to shoot solo, but now that I have seen how much more opportunity for creativity there is with a couple of people on the job, I don’t think I can ever go back!

So here is the movie trailer we played at the reception. Come back in a little while to see the finished highlights!

A Wedding Music Video – Love It!!!

Selena and James got married at Bridges Golf Course this weekend. It was a beautiful day.

We started out at Selena’s house for some getting ready shots. When the boys arrived we had the first meeting  on the open staircase in the house. What a great couple they are. Obviously in love!

After that we went out to the legislative building and St. Boniface cathedral for some formal shots. Selena works for Nygard, so she was lucky enough to have the services of their senior fashion photographer, John Bartelings, to cover her photography for the day. I’m looking forward to seeing the photos! After that we made a dash for Bridges which is out West on the number 2. It was stunning with the deep blanket of snow all around… I can’t wait to shoot there in the Summer too.

The wedding was an understated and highly tasteful affair, held in the main room at Bridges. Its a picturesque clubhouse with loads of exposed wooden beams and windows all the way around.

When we were consulting about the day’s coverage we discussed the concept of making a music video of the day. After going through a long list of possible songs the couple decided on “I got a feeling” by the Black Eyed Peas. It’s just the perfect song for a wedding day! The bridesmaids were spectacular at bringing the energy up. They were singing and dancing ALL DAY! You rock!!! I got many of the guests in on the action too by giving them a line or two to sing too. (Some were more shy than others!) The coolest part was definitely the dance that the whole entourage performed after the couple’s first dance. They started off to a slow song and then broke into a fantastic choreography routine with sunglasses and attitude! The highlight of the evening was an awesome fireworks display out over the snowy fields.

So here is the music video we made. It was a lot of fun to put together. I hope you like it and, as always, comments are most welcome!

Melissa and sean 2010 – Believe

The winter Olympics may be coming to CTV, but there is something even more spectacular on its way… the wedding of Melissa and Sean!

The Japanese have a concept called ikigai. It’s a person’s reason for getting up every morning. Mine is to create a work of art each day I am blessed with living. So when Melissa and Sean let me exercise my creativity on their Save the Date video I was overjoyed!

There are some wonderful ads on TV at the moment about the upcoming winter Olympics. I love the stirring music and the inspirational words. They make me want to learn how to ski or skate or slide so I can go and compete! I especially love the voice over by Donald Sutherland. In short, they are beautiful. I wanted to bring some of that feeling to this Save the Date video… the excitement, the anticipation, and a little tongue in cheek humour too. So I drove out to Altona yesterday and met up with Melissa and Sean.

We went out to a frozen duck pond to get some shots of them skating and playing hockey. Actually, hockey is played on a green field with a white ball. this is ICE HOCKEY. (Hear the Canadians groan!) After that we went to the school where Melissa works to get shots of them playing basketball and generally messing around. So much fun! To end off the shoot we went back to their house to get some shots of the typical relationship stuff that every couple has… fights over the remote control, dirty plates… I am sure you know exactly what I mean! The point of the images was to show how much training is required to walk down the aisle.

I absolutely LOVE how this turned out. I wish every couple would invest in the Save the Date shoot. Its such a wonderful opportunity to be creative and make a video invitation that friends and family will love and talk about for ages.

So here it is….
